Please get in touch if you are interested in buying cards in advance for Christmas 2017! :)
This is a very belated post to thank everyone involved with the sale and distribution of the fantastic Christmas Cards designed by Caroline Somerville (See post November 2016). The cards were sold in places including Sheffield, York and even as far as the Netherlands! Thank you to everyone involved with the production and sale of the cards, including the brilliant 'Hungry Buddha' Restaurant in Sheffield and 'Everest Gurkha' restaurant in York who kindly helped with sales and ran a collection box for the cause. Thank you for all your help and support.

Congratulations to ticket number 28, who wishes to remain anonymous, the winner of the lottery for May! £50 will be on its way to you.
Thank you for all your support! In recent weeks FCN have provided money for the construction of a ramp at a local school, following a number of accidents as wheelchair users attempted to enter using the steep steps. Improving the accessibility of schools is essential to challenge the disabling barriers faced by those with impairments in Nepal, and will make the school more inclusive for all. Additionally, we were able to provide funds so that modifications could be made to the school bathrooms, including fitting grab rails so that toilet spaces are more accessible. FCN believes it is essential that all children have opportunities in education and hope to continue to support the work of disabled people in Nepal in reducing any barriers to participation.
Thanks to your support FCN have also been able to purchase four air mattresses for residents at the Khagendra who are unable to relieve their pressure independently. Steps such as the use of mattresses, coupled with a healthy diet can be key in reducing the risk of developing pressure sores, which can often result in infection and serious illness. It is once again the time of the year to reflect on all that has happened over the previous 12 months and produce an annual report, a process that can be lengthy but also an enjoyable process. I would like to thank everyone who has helped, supported, contributed, and guided the work that the charity has been able to carry out over the past year. A special thank you is extended to Michael McGowan and Krishna Khadka, who have been key in organising, planning and preparing all the projects FCN have been involved with. Congratulations to Gary Schneider ticket number 36, the winner of Aprils lottery (drawn early as we are off to the remote Scottish mountains!). £50 will be on its way to you next week, enjoy :)
The winner of March's lottery is number 10, who wishes to remain anonymous. Congratulations!
Congratulations to ticket number 18, winner of the lottery for February.
Thank you for your support. During their summer in Nepal, Jodi and Joe lived and volunteered at Khagendra. They helped staff with care and organised activites including arts and crafts, becoming part of the Khagendra community.
They will be missed by all the staff and residents. The lovely couple also managed to raise £550 for FCN, trekking 5 days in the foothills of Annapurna. Thank you for all your great work at Khagendra FCN recently transferred money to Khagendra to boost the fruit budget for over the winter months. Previously, due to the local cost of fruit residents, were only supplied with one item of fruit per week. This will improve the diet of all the residents and provide a much needed vitamin boost, particularly as the temperature drops in the Kathmandu valley.
Thank you again for all your support! At the end of 2016, John Carpenter walked to the base of the world's highest mountain, raising a brilliant amount of money for FCN in the process. Thank you for all your support John, on behalf of FCN and those in Nepal that will benefit from your fundraising.
Congratulations to ticket number 38, winner of the first FCN lottery of 2017!
Happy New Year to all FCN followers and thank you as always for your support. |
