In recent weeks, I am delighted to say FCN have been able to fund the purchase of a new computer for the independent living hostel in Jorpati. The computer can be accessed by all the residents at the centre and will prove useful in their studies, networking, along with enhancing employment and social opportunities. We have also been able to support a gas water heater to be fitted in the hostel, to allow continuous hot water to be available throughout the cold winter months. Access to warm water will allow the residents to maintain good standards of hygiene which can prove key in preventing pressure sores. So often disabled people face barriers with accessing opportunities for education, work, and social activities and we hope to continue to work with the hostel in their great work in breaking down these barriers and giving residents a chance to live for themselves.
At Khagendra we have continued our support for a weekly fruit supply, now providing more than 60 residents with 3 extra items of fruit per week. They are enjoying the variety in their diet, and benefiting from the vitamins to fight off illness. It is only thanks to your regular support (through the lottery and direct debits) that we are able to continue to reliably provide this funding and for this we would like to say a huge thank you!
